Blogger Inspired Fashion Week 2014 Featuring: Paulina Mo - Lil' Bits of Chic

Hey Dolls!!

We’re back with WEEK TWO of 2014’s Blogger Inspired Fashion Week 2014.  I’m still excited and I’m completely amazed that this is my 3rd installation of this series I created and that I've received such gracious participation from fellow bloggers to allow me to share my support and love for them through my blog.  Today we are featuring the lovely Paulina Mo a.k.a. Pau from Lil’ Bits of Chic.  Pau’s style is so lovely to me.  It’s just laced with all of the elements of a Modern Day Girl-Next-Door
Pau, like a lot of us Fashion Bloggers who have 9-5 jobs started blogging to satisfy the need of a creative outlet aside from our careers and she has definitely taken her blog to great heights.  This style darling has been featured in some of the best fashion related publications including People Style Watch Magazine, Redbook Magazine, and Lucky Magazine just to name a few.
When I read Pau’s blog I feel right at home.  Her style is so relatable and she’s always smiling.  In addition her activities in SanDiego definitely make me want to visit.  I’m sure you guys are definitely interested in finding out more about this stylish lady and what inspires her adorable style.  Please read her interview and get to know Pau and her lil’ bits of chic.

Name:  Paulina Mo.

Age (optional):  32

Full Time Career:  Financial Analyst by day, Style Blogger by night.

Tell Me and My Readers a little bit about yourself and your background.
I'm Paulina, the Fashion and Lifestyle Blogger behind Lil Bits of Chic. I was born and raised in lovely San Diego to wonderful Mexican parents. They instilled in me so many life lessons and the importance of work ethic. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and I continue to develop my career in that industry.

In 2011, I created my Lil' Bits of Chic blog as a creative outlet to display my love for fashion and all things chic. This blog was essential to me at a time where the many years of working the 9 to 5 had me feeling stagnant and my creativity felt pent up. Now, this blog has become a passion of mine where I get to showcase my other passion: Fashion, Beauty and my life here in sunny San Diego!

How would you describe your signature style?
My style is Classic and Clean with a Modern Twist.

How do you go about creating an outfit or look?
My look usually revolves around one key piece, whether it is the shoes, purse or dress, I like to make one piece shine and add complementary pieces around it.

What is your FAVORITE Feature to accentuate?
I like to accentuate the waist whenever possible, but in some cases I just embrace boxy looks in the name of fashion.

Do you have any Fashion Challenges?
My biggest fashion challenge is money, especially in a blogging age where the standard is having a Chanel purse and/or Louboutin shoes. The upside is that it has made me be more creative on how I purchase items (either on sale, good deals or invest in versatile pieces).

What are your FAVORITE places to shop?
I love shopping online especially ASOS and my new favorite River Island from the UK. Online shopping offers unique pieces at lower prices, especially if you purchase during a good sale!

Who are your FAVORITE Designers and/or Clothing Brands?
My favorite designer is the classic Diane Von Furstenberg because she’s more than a designer, she’s an inspiration. Favorite clothing brands include River Island, Top Shop, Zara and yes, even Forever 21 because they have so much variety!

Is there a Fall/Winter trend that you’re dying to incorporate into your wardrobe?
Wearing boots (booties, over the knee and chunky) is always my favorite trend when Fall/Winter rolls around.

Why Blogging?  What turned you on to the Blogosphere?
It took me about 2 years to jump into the blogosphere mainly because I was unsure of the direction would go into, or if I was capable of doing it, but once I did I realized that I have a passion for all of the components of blogging (fashion, writing, photography, web design) which is why I wish I had started earlier.

What thing(s) sets your blog apart from other blogs?
My blog is based on me- a career driven, fashionable working professional who also loves to have fun and do random things which is what sets me apart from other similar blogs. I talk to you like I talk to my girlfriends (I leave the how-to’s and professional writing to the magazines), I want my readers to feel like you are coming to talk to your friend about fashion, style and products. I intertwine my stories with outfits and in some cases even my struggles of balancing a full time career with blogging and everything else.
Where do you see your Blog a year from now?
A year from now, I hope to see my blog with better photography and also a little shift into wedding and home décor posts as I plan my upcoming wedding and move into a bigger space.

Name 3 Bloggers whose style you just live for.
I find myself drooling over the style of these 3 bloggers: The Pink Peonies, Margo and Me, and Atlantic-Pacific.

As you know, my blog is geared towards FASHION and FINANCE, so tell me in what ways you combine the two.
I think for a normal working girl like me, fashion and finance go hand in hand. I don’t have the luxury to buy the latest handbag or looks off the runway, but I do have creativity to create looks similar to what’s on the runway.

What advice would you give to up and coming Fashion Bloggers?
Stay true to your style and your path. There are a lot of things that may discourage you but you have to just keep going and work hard.

Her interview was excellent!  My favorite part is her response to what sets her blog apart from other blogs.  I just loved that!

I decided to recreate one of my favorite looks from Pau.  I’ll tell you guys a secret:  I wanted to recreate this look so bad last year but I held back and waited for her to participate in this series.  Thanks Pau!  LOL!  I chose…"Emerald Green and Faux Fur” which came from Pau’s November 12, 2012 post.  Pau, I hope I did this fab look you created justice.
So Dolls, how did I do?

  2. Totally enjoyed this interview of Paulina! It was great getting to know her better and inspiring to read a little more of her backstory. I also appreciate that she "leaves the how-tos to the magazines" since that's what I prefer in a fashion blog..just girls sharing their fashion journeys. :) Great article, and you totally nailed her outfit. Looks great on you!
