Blogger Inspired Fashion Week 2014 Featuring: Tyesha - Diary of A Chic Mommy

Hey Dolls!!

Alright today’s Blogger Inspired Fashion Week Feature is a treat for the fabulous Mommies and Mommy Bloggers out there.  Today we have the lovely Tyesha from “Diary of A Chic Mommy.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:  Ladies, you do NOT have to lose your sense of style just because you have become a Mom!  Thankfully, there are bloggers like Tyesha who prove me right every day.  Tyesha is a Mom who aims to be chic and effortless all at the same time.  Not only does this Curvy Fashionista showcase her own personal style on her blog, but she also shares Kid’s Fashion that she buys for her children along with shopping tips and discounts, beneficial info for all of you Mom’s out there.
I can’t quite remember how I came across Tyesha’s Blog.  For some reason I feel like I first connected with her on twitter, but I’m not completely sure, but I’m oh so glad I did.  After following each other for a while, she posted something on Instagram and I realized she is also a St. Louis Native just like me.  You know I love that.
This Marvelous Mommy has also received recognition for her stylish ways on Glamour Magazine’s website, Fab Sugar and Kiyonna.  In addition to all of that Tyesha is a regular contributor for Skorch Magazine which is the first fully digital magazine featuring plus size fashion and continues to lead the industry as a resource of plus size fashion for women around the world. Get it girl!!  Ok, so Dolls I won’t keep you waiting any longer.  Go ahead and read my interview with this Chic Mommy:

Name: Tyesha Brown

Age (optional): 34

Full Time Career: Right now I currently work from home, but I do have an MBA with a concentration in HR Management. When we relocate next month to Georgia I plan on returning to Corporate America.

Tell Me and My Readers a little bit about yourself and your background. I’m a mother of two. My son just turned 15 and my daughter turned 9 in September. I’m a military spouse and we currently live in San Antonio, TX, but as I mentioned we will be relocating to Columbus, GA (an hour from Atlanta). My husband and I have been married for 14 years now and still going strong.

How would you describe your signature style? Hmmm I don’t know why this is always so difficult for me to answer. I will say that my style is a combination of Girly-GirlClassy and Eclectic. As much as I love some trends everything isn’t for me. I’m not one to show too much skin besides my legs, but tastefully. I can’t get with the crop top trend and showing off my mid-section, because it’s just not for me.

How do you go about creating an outfit or look?
I get inspiration from just about everywhere. Particularly Pinterest (I have page just for looks to recreate on Pinterest), Instagram, Other Bloggers and Celebrities.

What is your FAVORITE Feature to accentuate?
Definitely my legs oh and my dimples too LOL!

Do you have any Fashion Challenges?
No not at this time, but I would love to participate in one after I’m moved and settled. I need to go on a no shopping challenge and challenge myself to shop my own closet.
What are your FAVORITE places to shop?
I love shopping at ASOS, Forever 21, Target, Boohoo, JCPenney, Macy’s & NY&Co. I can shop just about any and everywhere. I always shop the clearance racks first, because everything gets marked down at some point, right?

Who are your FAVORITE Designers and/or Clothing Brands?
Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Philip Lim, Steve Madden, and Sam Edelman to name a few. I’m not solely into brands as long as it has nice quality I’m sold. When it comes to my handbags I do prefer Michael Kors & Tory Burch and as of lately I’m digging the MCM bags and backpacks.

Is there a Fall/Winter trend that youre dying to incorporate into your wardrobe?
No nothing in particular, but I will say that I look forward to my Fall/Winter wardrobe while living in Georgia because this year I will actually have real cold weather and will be able to layer and wear some things that I haven’t been able to wear in while after living in HOT San Antonio for 4 years and before that Hawaii for 3.

Why Blogging?  What turned you on to the Blogosphere?
I started blogging because of a good friend (military spouse) of mine that I met while living in Hawaii who actually blogs for a living now as a military blogger She told me that I should start a blog about fashion because of the way that I dressed and the crazy thing is I had no idea what a blog was and over 3 years later I’m still at it.

What thing(s) sets your blog apart from other blogs?
Well, being that I’m a military spouse and a mom I believe those two alone makes me totally separate than your typical fashion blogger because while I do blog about my style I also blog about kids fashion and everyday life also.

Where do you see your Blog a year from now?
Well I can’t say right now I’m so up and down with my blog so I just try to take it a day at a time for now and just go with the flow of things because at the end of the day it’s about enjoy the journey along the way :)
Name 3 Bloggers whose style you just live for.
That would definitely have to be Blaire from Atlantic Pacific because her style is so flawless and always on point. I also love Soraya from Style is My Thing and her style is indeed on point and so polished and Courtney Kerr from What Courtney Wore.

As you know, my blog is geared towards FASHION and FINANCE, so tell me in what ways you combine the two.
I will say that finance is very important, but sometimes it can be so hard. I know as bloggers it can be difficult to separate the two because of all the things we see and just have to have, but over time I have changed and as I mentioned before I just try to shop the clearance racks and I also shop sales too for both my family and myself. We will be buying a home sometime in the near future and that’s my primary focus. Yes fashion is important, but there has to be a balance and limit between the two and my husband definitely makes sure of that.

What advice would you give to up and coming Fashion Bloggers?
I would just say that it’s so important to stay true to who you really are and not to get so caught up in what everyone else is doing. Just do you!
Great advice indeed Tyesha!  Ok, so Dolls I knew exactly what outfit I wanted to recreate for this feature.  I decided on…"Stripes& Peplum” from her December 22, 2013 post.  This combination is so cute; I just had to do it.  I flipped it based on the items in my closet but it still works.  I hope you like it Tyesha!

So Dolls, how did I do?
