We are now on day two of Blogger Inspired Fashion Week and I'm excited. Today’s feature is the fabulous NeShanta Davis of Style Is She. This girl is what I like to call a “Fashionista of All Trades” and I am in true admiration of that feat. Not only is she a Fashion Blogger, but she is also a Boutique Owner, Fashion Stylist, Image Consultant and Personal Shopper. If I do say so myself, and I do, LOL her online boutique nothing short of fabulous! I have made a few purchases this year and what I love about it is, in her collection you can find fabulous vintage one of a kind pieces. So for those who like to separate themselves from the pack, this is perfect. You have to check it out! Click here to shop Ms. Style Is She Online.
NeShanta is a very avid Thrifter hosting “She Thrifts Thursdays” to interact with her followers and encourage the power in thrifting. If you follow NeShanta on Instagram you can see some of the fabulous looks she and her fab followers have thrifted.
In addition to her thrifting prowess, NeShanta’s style is so amazing to me. I love the variety and how ever changing it is. There is NEVER a dull moment in NeShanta’s style. This Fly Girl lives in bold patterns, bright colors, and fabulous textures. All pulled together with eye catching accessories and hairstyles. If you need tips on how to pull BOLD style together, NeShanta is the perfect template to draw inspiration from. Tell Me and My Readers a little bit about yourself and your background. I am a Wife, Mother and Military Veteran. After spending 10 years in the Air Force, I made to choice to finally live my dreams in the fashion industry. I am most inspired by vintage fashion and beautiful things.
How would you describe your signature style? My style is a constantly evolving. I would describe it as a mix of feminine, eclectic, vintage with a touch of trendy. I know it sound cliché but I am very much a mood dresser. I dress according to how I feel.
How do you go about creating an outfit or look? Honestly, I find inspiration everywhere. Sometimes it is from other bloggers or fashion outlets and sometimes I just go to my closet and play dress up. Once I find an outfit I love I take pics of it for my look book. That way when I have somewhere to be, I don’t have to spend that time hunting for something to wear. What is your FAVORITE Feature to accentuate? I love to accentuate my legs. They are a gift and a curse. LOL!! They look great in skirts and dresses but they’ve prohibited me from zipping several pairs of boots.
Do you have any Fashion Challenges? My biggest challenge is dressing to conceal my pouch.
What are your FAVORITE places to shop? I am a diehard thrifter and I have been since I was in the 7th grade. I love Thrift and Consignment stores. I am not a fan of mall at shopping at all.
Who are your FAVORITE Designers and/or Clothing Brands? I’m not tied to a particular brand. I like what looks good on me. I can literally shop anywhere. I do greatly admire Zac Posen and Zuhair Murad but neither are in my price point, so I continue to admire from afar. LOL!
Is there a Fall/Winter trend that you’re dying to incorporate into your wardrobe? It never really gets cold enough to wear my coats in Atlanta. Although I hate the cold weather, I have an entire coat closet and I am dying to wear a few of them this year.
Why Blogging? What turned you on to the Blogosphere? I was looking for a way to share my fashion journey with the world. I also wanted to share my passion for thrifting. A lot of women feel like they have to spend a lot to look good. When in fact that is the biggest non truth; thrifting is a way of life.
What thing(s) sets your blog apart from other blogs? A lot of bloggers share outfit details but they never share anything about themselves. I love to be transparent with my readers without putting all of my business out there. Also many bloggers share their style with the world but it is very unattainable. I find that thrifting and buying more affordable clothing makes me more relatable.
Where do you see your Blog a year from now? I see myself with a larger audience to inspire.
Name 3 Bloggers whose style you just live for:
Style Is My Thing
As you know, my blog is geared towards FASHION and FINANCE, so tell me in what ways you combine the two. I try not to spend all of my finances on fashion. LOL
What advice would you give to up and coming Fashion Bloggers? Be consistent. Don’t look at the numbers, just continue to do what you love. When you get frustrated, remember why you started in the first place. Don’t let others comments and negative opinions about who you are and what you wear change who you are. Be mindful of constructive criticism everyone isn’t a hater or out to get you.
So as you can probably tell, there are tons of looks in NeShanta’s wardrobe that I wanted to re-create but this girl posed quite the challenge for me. This is mostly because, she has a lot of one-of-a-kind pieces and vintage items that of course aren’t in my wardrobe. I mean I had a few things some close, but I didn’t want to half step on my inspired look. So in the end I decided on…"Camo Fur” from NeShanta’s blog post on 11/12/13!
I love this look so much and I’m mad at myself that I had all these pieces in my closet and NEVER thought of wearing them like this before. That is why I love this series so much! I hope you like it NeShanta and thank you for you style and thank you for your service!
So Dolls, how did I do with NeShanta’s look?
